My Story

I am mother of six wonderful children that I birthed at home (see my Blog for the birth stories).

My interest in helping women through the birth process began when I was a teenager and my mother remarried and started a second family. I was present for the births of my sisters (both at home), and "caught" my youngest sister when the midwife didn't make it in time for the birth!

I knew then that I wanted to work with birth somehow. Several years later, I began my studies in midwifery at Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland, OR. I studied for a year, during which time I also trained as a labor doula and attended births voluntarily for underprivileged and teen moms to gain experience.

Through my own childbearing years, I studied, but did not participate in other's births. I am currently a labor doula, serving Northwestern New Hampshire and Northeastern Vermont.
